Creating Cube Storage Shelves
Cube storage shelves are made of several cube-shaped shelves of different sizes. Here are several ways to create cube storage shelves. Grab two pieces of 12 by 48 medium density fiberboard and place on a work table, with the long ends adjacent to each other. Using your measuring tape start at one end and begin to place marks at 12, 24 and 36 inches on each piece of fiberboard. Measure and begin to mark at 3/8-inch in both directions from the marks you made previously. This tells you or indicates the placement of the dividers that will be placed. Grab a framing square and place on the marks and draw lines across the 12-inch depth of each piece of fiberboard once you have done this then you will need to drill three pilot holes between the lines measuring it at 1 inch from each edge and about midway using a 1/8-inch drill bit, drill countersink holes on top of the pilot holes using a countersink drill bit.
Next set your 12-by-12-by-¾-inch MDF material on the work table. These are the dividers creating cube-shaped sections in the overall storage cube. Apply glue between the lines drawn in Step 2 on one of the long pieces. Stand it on its long edge and secure the 12-by-12-by-¾-inch Medium Density Fiberboard dividers to it using 2-inch drywall screws, you can use a drill with a Phillips-head bit. Only use as much or as less glue or sealant that is needed, clean up excess glue immediately with a damp clean cloth. Allow the glue to set up and you will have made your very first set of cube storage shelves. All that’s needed is a fresh coat of paint choosing your own colors, apply 2 coats for a long lasting finish and your pretty much done.
