Restore A Slate Flooring
Slate flooring looks good in a room in your house, especially in a kitchen. It’s sturdy and will wear well for years. A stone enhancer works to bring out the natural highlights in the stone by increasing the color contrasts and the texture of the stone. Periodically, however, it will need to be restored. Here are several instructions to restore slate flooring in your house. It’s not a complex procedure, although it will take some time and some effort. The results will more than repay the effort you put in it. First of all, apply heavy duty tile cleaner and stripper to the slate to remove wax, acrylic finishes, grease and oil on the slate. Scrub the tiles until they are clean.
Apply a stone enhancer and sealer product liberally to the surface of the slate flooring, and spread with a mop or lambs wool applicator. Let the enhancer sit on the tile for a few minutes, then remove excess before it dries. Apply a second coat immediately. Remove excess enhancer as described above. Allow the second coat to dry for four to six hours. Clean tools and hands with warm water and soap after the second coat is applied.
