Designing A Gothic Kitchen In Your House
Designing a Gothic kitchen requires a creative vision. Here are several ways to designing a Gothic kitchen. The most important, or at least the most noticeable, element of a Gothic kitchen, or any room for that matter, is the dark decor. Wall colors such as dark purple, black and darkened shades of red suited to a Gothic kitchen. Cabinets, if you have them, could be painted black or dark and have heavy, Medieval style hardware and hinges. If the room has curtains, heavy, dark curtains or even velvet curtains fit the Gothic kitchen theme. Stone walls, or walls faux finished to look like stone or even castle blocks, are also at home in a Gothic kitchen. Dark throne-style chairs can be used if dining is also done in the kitchen.
Beams and rustic dark wood furnishings and shelving belong in a Gothic kitchen. A shelf could be made out of old beams or railroad ties, finished with black-painted, vintage-style hardware, or they can be hung from black chains. A primitive wood table which appears darkened from age would look at home in your Gothic kitchen as well. Exposed wood, such as on door frames or window sills, could be rubbed with a dark glaze to give them an aged look when the existing wood is light in color.
