Installing A Pegboard Storage

Installing A Pegboard Storage

Pegboards are perforated hardboards made from wood or metal with evenly space holes pre-drilled into the board. Considered to be the best storage device, the pegboard is primarily used to hang different types of accessories which help in creating more storage space, especially in those areas where space is a major concern. There are several steps to installing a pegboard storage. Here are some of them. Decide the location where you want to install the pegboard. Ensure that you leave enough space behind the surface of the board because the hooks or pegs which are to be inserted through the holes in the board will be hooked from behind. Next, mark the locations of the wall studs. This is done in order to mount the board support strips on the wall. Once that is done, draw a horizontal line on the wall for further guidance. Form a framework for the board–follow the mark on the wall, and mount a horizontal strip of wood on it using wood screws. Force the screws into the studs to provide support and install the other strips, including the vertical strips across the central region to create the framework supporting the pegboard.

Calculate the measurements of the pegboard storage and accordingly cut the board material with a saw. After cutting, mount the same to the prepared framework using wood screws and a cordless drill with a screw driver. Once the pegboard is mounted properly, put the hooks in the holes and then hang your tools or other accessories. In case you forget which tool goes where, you can draw an outline around your hanging tools or can number them according to their hanging places.
